Mr. Thomas was a Unicoi County native but had lived in Johnson City since 1961. He was a son of the late Brownlow and Minnie Hensley Thomas. He was a retied projectionist with Wylie Theaters. He also co-owned and managed the Capri Hotel in Johnson City. Mr. THomas was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one brohter, Earl Thomas; four sisters, Gladys Miller, Ruby Griffith, Helen Gentry and Pansy Luttrell. Survivors include: his wife, Eleanor Harris Thomas, Johnson City; two sons, Bruce David Thomas and James "Jim" Thomas, both of Johnson City, Susan Thomas Goodwin, Johnson City; one brother, Ray Thomas Townsend, Delaware; one sister, Pauline Cash, Erwin; two grandchildren, Kayla Elizabeth Thomas and Chase Jordan Silvers; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Erwin Rescue Squad. Mr. Thomas is interred in Washington County Memory Gardens.
