Mr. Tipton was a Green Mountain, North Carolina native and had lived in Unicoi County for 38 years, before moving to the Johnson City are 21 yers ago. He was a son of the late John and Edie Bryant Tipton. Mr. Tipton retired from Hoover Ball after 25 years of sevice. He was a member of Cornerstone Church, where he attended the Keenagers Sunday School class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one son, Gary Tipton in 1967; one brother, Charles Tipton; and one sister, Bessie Tipton. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Bradley Tipton, Johnson City; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Rita) Haun, Erwin, and Mrs, Jim (Jan) Foster, Telford; two brothers, Jonas Tipton, Christmas, Florida, and James Tipton, Mt. Morris, Michigan; two sisters, Birdie Tipton, Gray, and Edgel Stallard, Bradenton, Florida; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Tipton is interred in Evergreen Cemetery.
