She was born in Illinois Sept. 16, 1869, a daughter of Joseph and Mary McMillan CREWS and had spent the greater part of her life in Walnut Cove. In 1889 she was married to John Burch WOODRUFF who preceded her in death in 1927. She was a member of Walnut Cove Methodist Church. Surviving are seven daughters, Misses Elizabeth WOODRUFF of Oxford, NC; Miss Clara WOODRUFF of Walnut Cove, Miss Grace WOODRUFF of Ridgefield, Conn., Mrs. Ed WHITE of Janesville, Wisconsin, Mrs. Phil WOODWARD of Hampton, Va., Mrs. James COOK of Danville, Va., Mrs. H.J. WHITE of Elizabthtown, Tenn. Three sons, Howard WOODRUFF of Charlotte, John WOODRUFF of Erwin, Tenn., and Walter WOODRUFF of St. Petersburg, Florida. Three sisters, Miss Ella CREWS of Washington, D.C., Miss Laura CREWS of Greensboro and Mrs. Roy CUTLER of Clifton Forge, Va.; two brothers, Bob CREWS of Greensboro and Clyde CREWS of Washington, D.C. 14 grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Christ Episcopal Church at Walnut Cove, Thursday, March 4th. Interment in Walnut Cove Cemetery.
