A. Parker State of Tennessee, Washington County } June 6, 1818. Third personally appeared before me Thomas Emmerson One of the Judges of the Circuit Court of Law & Equity for the first Judicial Circuit of sd State the subscriber THOMAS McLAIN and in pursuance to an act of Congrefs of the United States entitled an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and navel Service of the United States in the Revolutionary War made & subscribed the following declaration after first being duly sworn -- Towit that he said THOMAS McLAIN enlisted in the continental service in the Revolutionary War at Little York in the State of Pennsylvania in the Company commanded by Captain Alexander Parker of the 7th Pennsylvania Regiment (or line.) that he continued in said Regiment and company from the time of his enlistment until the end of the war, that he was enlisted by then Lieutenant John Blair of Said Parkers Company of sd Regiment in 1775 that at the end of the war he obtained an honorable discharge from said service from and under the hand of an officer named Fullerton (whose first name he does not now recollect that he kept said discharge for some considerable length of time untill by casuatly he has lost the same and had it not in his power now to produce it. he further states that he is now a citizen of Washington County of State of Tennefsee and has been a citizen of said county upwards of therty years that he is now aged sixty six years and is intirely destitute of property and so much reduced in circumstances that he with out the afsistance of his country in the towment of the generous provision thereby made will be and now is entirely dependant upon the charity & benevolence of the vicinity in which he now resides he further states that he never has been placed on any pension test of the United States nor has he ever before this make any applications for the service he would also beg leave to state that during the service which he rendered his country from the year 1777 the time of Enlistment until 1783 the date of his discharge. that he was in the Battle of Germantown, Brandywine, Monmouth, Piola, Stony point, greensprings and the Capture of the British army at Little York (in Virginia) and that his own disclosure in the widened at this late period he has within the compafs of his power except the proof of Lieutenant John Blair under whom he enlisted herewith mmets the records or of the Amry of the Revolution will evidence the same. Sworn to & subscribed before me this day & date before written THOMAS M'LEAN Test Tho: Emmerson I do certify that I am satisified the above named THOMAS McCLAIN is in reduced Circumstances & stands in need of the afsistance of his Country for support given under my hand this 9th day of October 1818 Tho: Emmerson Addenda THOMAS McLEAN shortly after making the foregoing Declaration called on John Blair late a Lieutenant in the army of the Revolution to to provide his affordand of Enlistment & Service for five year but before the same could be provided, the sd John Blair died in consequence of which the same could not be provided but the sd John Blair on his death bed stated that he enlisted the sd THOMAS McLAIN & that he served as before stated by him and that the Rolls of the company to which sd Lieut. Blair belonged would the same this statement I make for sd McLAIN upon Oaths sworn to & subscribed before me. John Blair Jr. William F. Anderson Clerk of the Coircuit Court of Law for sd County do certify that Thomas Emmerson before whom the foregoing declaration was made is & then was one of the Circuit Judges of sd State. I further certify that Wm. P. Chester before whom the additional statement of John Blair was made is an acting Justice of peace for sd County given under my hand & private seal having no seal of office at this day & dates above Jas.
