LEROY TAYLOR LeRoy Taylor applied for revolutionary pension while living in Washington County, Tenn., Sept. 14, 1832. He entered the service while living in Burke County, N. C. He moved to Tennessee country which was then North Carolina, in the spring of 1789. His last pension payment was made to his grand daughter, Margaret Irwin. He died March 24, 1834. NOTE:-LeRoy Taylor is called Colonel Taylor because of service after the Revolution in the Militia. He and his brother Parmenas, moved to the Tennessee country. They were sons of William Taylor of Prince County, Virginia. William Taylor's wife was Sarah Bradford. He was born in Prince William County, Va. and moved to Burke County, N. C. in his youth with his mother and step father, Hosea Rose. He was born July 25, 1758. He died March 24, 1834 in Leesburg, Washington County, Va. He married twice. His first wife was Susan Sherrill, sister of Catherine Sherrill who married Col. John Sevier. The second wife was Mary Bradford, a kinswoman of his mother. His children were Nellie: William; Robert; Joseph; Sallie or Sarah who married John Campbell; Levi (first child by the second wife; married Mary Houston Rogers; Malinda married Patrick Irwin; Jacob married Polly Keys; LeRoy, Jr., married Jean Inman: Peggy married Young Kibbler; Betsey married Henry Haire; Ruth married Hiram Swaney; It is believed there were five other children, twenty-four in all.
