Barnett Charles Billy Barnett, 80, 106 Borderview Avenue, Elizabethton, died Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Washington County, he was a son of the late Robert and Minnie Gibson Barnett. Mr. Barnett had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Frances Turbyfill Barnett; a son and daughter- in-law, Bill Barnett Jr. and Deborah Barnett, Mosheim; Mosheim; two daughters and a son-in-law, Doris Jean Woodby, Elizabethton, and Kathy and Tim Parlier, Elizabethton; two brothers, Howard Barnett, Gray, and Joe Pat Barnett, Elizabethton; a sister, Peggy Joyner, Keysville, Va.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ed and Faye Younce and Annie Parlier. Funeral services for Mr. Barnett will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Crowe officiating. Music will be provided by Bill and Deborah Barnett. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 10, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, will be Brandon Parlier, Timmy Barnett, Billy Wade Barnett, Rick Parlier, Rick Barnett and Clinton Woodby. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Younce, Howard Barnett, Joe Pat Barnett, Buddy Puckett, Sherman McInturff, Willie Metcalf, Larry Parlier and Chris Dykes. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
