Mrs. Byers was a lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Raymond and Viola Hughes King. Mrs. Byers was employed by Sprint Telephone Company for 39 years as an outside plant manager. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church and attended Buffalo Valley Christian Church. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Jimmy Wayne Byers; one son, Shannon Byers and his wife Deanna, Johnson City; one granddaughter, Courtney Byers and one grandson, Andrew Byers, both of Johnson City; three brothers and sisters-in- law, Kenneth and Bertie-Lee King, Unicoi, James and Eula King, Greeneville and Earnest and Elaine King, Johnson City; six nieces; two nephews; one great-niece and great-nephew; sister-in-law, Janet Smith; mother-in-law, Nora, and her husband Jay Roark; and several cousins. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. David Slayton, minister, and Reverend Mack Houston will officiate. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and travel in procession to the cemetery. Active and honorary pallbearers will be selected from current and former employees of Sprint Telephone Company and Appalachian Bible Company.
