Queenie M. Chandler 





    JOHNSON CITY -- Queenie Mitchell Chandler, 83, formerly of Sunrise Drive, 

Elizabethton, died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Appalachian Christian 

Village. 





    A native and lifelong resident of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the 

late John Ira and Maude Irene (Briggs) Mitchell. 





    Mrs. Chandler formerly attended the Tacoma Church of God. She retired from 

North American Rayon Corporation after 42 years of service. 





    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her 

husband, Walter Chandler, a sister, Ruby Sanders, and two brothers, Joseph and 

Ralph Mitchell. 





    Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Saundra and John Cole of 

Johnson City; two granddaughters, Janna Lee Cole of Johnson City, and Jonda 

Ann Hill and her husband Brian, and a great-granddaughter, Annalee Grace Hill, 

all of Lenoir, N.C.; and a brother, Hobert Mitchell of Piney Flats. Several 

nieces and nephews also survive. 





    The family would like to thank the caregivers of Appalachian Christian 

Village and Adventa Hospice, and a very special thank you to Linda Bunton for 

the excellent care she gave to Mrs. Chandler. 





    A graveside service for Mrs. Chandler was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, 

January 6, at Monte Vista Memorial Park under the direction of Rev. D.C. Byrd. 

Pallbearers were selected from family and friends. There was no formal

    Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 E. Oakland Avenue, 

Johnson City, (423) 282-1521, was in charge of the arrangements.
