WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Manuel "Pappy" Crowe, ----¤¤¤---- Manuel "Pappy" Crowe, 89, Douglasville, Ga., formerly of Johnson City, died Friday, December 5, 2003, at Wellstar Hospital, Douglasville, Ga., following a brief illness. Mr. Crowe was a Washington County native before moving to Georgia in 2000 to be with his daughter. He was a son of the late Brooks and Minnie Miles Crowe and was also preceded in death by his wife, Geraldean Crowe and one daughter, Mary Ward, and 11 brothers and sisters. Mr. Crowe was retired from Klopman Mills after 43 years of services. He was an active member of the Salvation Army Church and a regular visitor of area nursing home patients. Survivors include two sons, Darrell Crowe and his wife, Patsy, Johnson City, Terry Crowe and his wife, Glenda, Johnson City; two daughters, Betty Diehl and her husband Edward, Huntsville, Ala., and Billie Jean Street and her husband Jerry, Lithia Springs, Ga., and son-in-law, Ralph Ward, Kingsport; one sister, Ruth Higgins, Johnson City; eight granddaughters, three grandsons, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Crowe will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Mr. David Slayton will officiate. Committal services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Monte Vista Memorial Park with the Rev. Hagan McClellan officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Coleman, Jeff DePriest, Jason Hodges, John Stacey, Josh Cates, and Michael Whitson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
