Fred Fox Jr. "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself. That where I am, there ye may be also." Rev. Fred Fox Jr., 79, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 13, 2006. Rev. Fox was born in Jonesborough and had lived most of his life in Elizabethton. He was the son of the late Fred Fox Sr. and Nellie Anderson Fox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Roscoe, Jay and Charles Fox. Rev. Fox was a former pastor of Sink Valley Baptist Church and Riverview Baptist Church. He served in the ministry as an evangelist for more than 30 years and was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. He was a member and Past Master of Watauga Masonic Lodge #622. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Jewell Huffman Fox; his loving children, Kathy Fox Sutphin and husband Ron, Jonesborough, Debbie Fox Burchett and husband Shannon and Jeff Fox and wife Angie, all of Elizabethton; his precious grandchildren, Jennifer Lockett, Matt Fox and wife Morgan, Jeffrey Fox, Katie and Maggie Burchett, Logan and Lucas Sutphin; a dear sister, Glenna Hughes, Johnson City; and a dear brother, Harold Fox, Johnson City. A service to celebrate his life and mourn his death will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bobby Stout and Pastor Charlie Biggs officiating. Music will be provided by the Pleasant Beach Quartet and Gail Campbell, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, in the Jones Cemetery, Bluff City. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, will be Mark Scott, Allen Jarrett, John Riddle, Terry Miller, Earl Case, William Hambrick, Gary Hughes and Jamie Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Sutphin, Shannon Burchett, Herb Carr, June Huffman, Bill Hughes, Herman Burchett, Allen Jarnigan, Ronnie Ensor, Eddie Cox, Harold McEwen, Wes Ford, Trey Burleson, Ed Skeens, Jerry Wise, Carl Long, his church family of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and members of Watauga Masonic Lodge #622. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. A Masonic memorial service will follow the funeral service by Watauga Lodge #622. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to all those who cared for him at Pulmonary Associates of East Tennessee and Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was kind, compassionate and loving, had a wonderful smile and great sense of humor. Those who knew him, loved him. He is sadly missed. "We wish we had one more day to spend with you and if we did, we know just what we would do. We would spend it wishing we had one more day to spend with you."
