WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - William Ernest Gardner, 16 Feb 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mr. William Ernest Gardner, 77, Greenlee Rd., Johnson City, died Monday, February 16, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Yancey County, N.C. he was the son of the late John and Minnie Woody Gardner. He was retired from the Commercial Refrigeration Company and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by one son, William Kenneth Gardner and two infant daughters, Teresa and Patricia Gardner. Survivors include his wife, Arvena McKinney Gardner, of the home; a daughter, Susan Gardner, of the home; one brother, G.B. Gardner, Elizabethton, and four sisters, Bonnie Wilson, Gora McKinney and Jewell Hicks, all of Elizabethton and Rettia Morgan, of Ridgeway, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. William Ernest Gardner will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2004 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway- Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Seals and Rev. Tim Perry officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Roger Jenkins. The graveside service and burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2004 in the Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Perry, Kent McKinney, David McKinney, Kris McKinney, Jim Wilson, Jerry Wilson, George Jones, H. J. Wilson, Johnny Gardner, Ray Wilson, Don Morgan and Lee McKinney. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 or at the residence 345 Greenlee Rd., Johnson City at any time.
