WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Buford Jack Goldstein, 24 Jul 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Buford Jack Goldstein, a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed this life on July 24, 2005. He was born May 11, 1925, in Johnson City, Tenn., to the late Morris and Lena Goldstein and graduated Science Hill High School in 1942. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee in 1947, where he later served for a number of years as a Trustee at the request of the Governor. After graduating from UT, Buford returned to East Tennessee as a research chemist at Bemberg Industries in Elizabethton where he co-authored with John Crockett "The Story of American Bemberg Staple Fiber." His career in the textile industry spanned a half century. He rose to become Executive Vice- President of Beaunit Mills, Bemberg's parent company, and retired in 1995 as president and co-owner of Hampton Print Works in Johnson City. He was a charter member of the Elizabethton Shriners and a lifelong member of B'nai Shalom Congregation in Blountville, Tenn. He was also an honorary graduate of ETSU where he established a scholarship fund. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Richmond Goldstein; his sister, Anita Licht; his brother, Gordon Goldstein; three sons and daughters- in-law, Robert and Amanda Goldstein, David Goldstein and Catherine Evans, and Gary and Rebecca Goldstein; grandchildren, Anna, Michael, Janie, Steven, Everest and Bear; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City on Thursday, July 28, at 3 p.m. with Rabbi Brian Nevins-Goldman. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Gardens.
