Jessee Hawks, 95, formerly of the Bristol Virginia and Johnson City, Tennessee area, departed this world to continue her life with God on March 11, 2003. She was the widow of Joseph T. Hawks Sr. and preceded in death by a son, Claude Samuel Hawks; and a son-in-law, Douglas Wayne Dalton Sr. She is survived by her sister, Lena Shumaker Cline; children, Joseph Thomas Hawks Jr., Jay Regenia Dalton, James Floyd Bryce Hawks Sr. and his wife Willie, Janet Kay Davis and her husband Robert, Monta Fay Gilder and her husband Ronnie, Diana Lynn Jessee and Pamela and Jim Tripp; grandchildren, Sonny, Tia Marie, Douglas, Brandon, Joel, Bryce Jr., Renee, Heather and Christopher; three great-grandchildren, Camden, Jackson and Sarah; and a host of cherished family and friends. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Monta Vista Cemetery in Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Heights Baptist Church, 611 W. 31st St., Richmond, VA 23225 where she was a very active member for over 30 years. Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
