WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Marion C. Hodge Sr., 11 Mar 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Marion C. Hodge Sr., 79, E. Chilhowie Avenue, Johnson City, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Hodge was a native of Johnson City and a son of the late Cecil and Clara Godsey Hodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Hodge and Douglas Paul Hodge. Mr. Hodge was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired hydroplant operator at the T.V.A. and was the former owner of Hodge Alignment with his brother, Douglas Paul. He owned Hodge Development where he built and developed Green Acres and Tun Bridge subdivisions. He was a charter member of the Johnson City Homebuilders Association and had previously served on the Board of Directors for several years. He was a lifetime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and loved to sing in the church choir. He was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Clara Carder Hodge; three sons, Marion C. "Butch" Hodge Jr. and wife, Betsy, High Point, N.C., William Hodge Sr. and companion, Georgia Page, Johnson City, and Randy Hodge and companion, Tasia Hampton; four granddaughters, Elecia Hodge Lonon, Erwin, Lara Hodge and Leah Hodge, both of High Point, N.C., and Erin Hodge, Johnson City; two grandsons, William Hodge Jr., Knoxville, and Nicholas Hodge, U.S.A.F.; one very special great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Lonon, Erwin; two brothers, Wayne Hodge, Carthage, and Harold Hodge, Johnson City; and one aunt, Alma Birchfield, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14, in the sanctuary of Otterbein United Methodist Church with Joe-d Dowlingsoka, minister, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:45 a.m. Monday to proceed to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
