WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Lester Howard Kelly, 31 Dec 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Lester Howard Kelly, age 71, Lee Street, Johnson City, went to be with our Lord on Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Kelly was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He was formerly employed for 25 years with Giant Food Market as an assistant manager and later retired from Kelly Food's with more than 20 years of service. Mr. Kelly was a member of Southside Christian Church, Elizabethton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kate Kelly, and mother-in-law, Alice E. Bailey. Mr. Kelly is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cleo Helen Kelly; one son, James Lester Kelly and his wife Rachel, Johnson City; two daughters, Kathy Lockner and her husband Billy, Angela Kelly Blevins, all of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Josh Arnold, Chad, Nick and Jacob Blevins, and Alexis and Ryan Kelly, all of Johnson City; one great-grandson, Michael Arnold, Johnson City; two special sisters-in-law, Betty Ford and Mary Calhoun, both of Elizabethton; two special brothers-in-law, Julian Bailey and his wife Suzie, and Stan Bailey. The funeral service for Mr. Kelly will be conducted Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at 8 p.m. from the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home, with Michael Koruschak, minister, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. Tuesday to proceed to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Stan Bailey, Sam Hopson, Gene Bowman, Lynn Kyker, Bobby Bailey, James Ding, Keith Jenkins and Billy Lockner. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Cole, Bobby Moore, Jr., Joe Bowser, Terry Barnett and Dr. Jeffery Allerton . Thanks to special nurses, Lisa Moore, April Irick and Sheila Ruston. A special thanks to McCloud Cancer Center and Chemo Services. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
