A native of Kingsport, he had lived most of his life in the Bristol area and was a son of the late Kelly and Buena Penley Lane. He was a retired electrician and member of the Church of God. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. Survivors include wife, Esther Zelma Rouse Lane; children, Yvonne Bennett and Tommy Lane, both of Kingsport.; stepchildren, Dorothy Perry, Joan Cook, Debbie Rhymer, John Rouse and Kathy Edwards; granddaughter, Robin Morelock; great-granddaughter, Sara Morelock; several step-grandchildren and step-great- grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Loucille) Roland and Mrs. Darren (Elsie) Hunt, both of Kingsport. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at the graveside at the National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn., with military honors conducted by the VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975.
