WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Annice Lenore McCracken, 9 Mar 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Annice Lenore McCracken was born Aug. 4, 1910, and died March 9, 2005. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was very proud of her family. She was a friend to all and never met a stranger. She was everybody's "Granny Ann." She loved to quilt and she loved to read and garden. She loved to putter in her flower beds. She was a homemaker and also for many years took care of the Denney Miller Family of Jonesborough. She was born Aug. 4, 1910, in Carter County. She moved to Washington County in 1920. She lived in Jonesborough until she had a stroke in 1995 and she moved to Crossville near two of her daughters. She lived alone until she broke her hip two years ago. She then moved in with her daughter, Edna, who took care of her with help from her other daughter, Jean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph McCracken; one son, Keith McCracken; her parents, Virgil and Lucy Belle Morris; two brothers, Fred and Robert Morris; four sisters, Geneva Morris, age 12; Ella Whitehead; Maude Austin and Frankie Murr; and one son-in-law, William "Bill" Garst. She is survived by one sister, Mamie Erwin, of Johnson City; one sister-in- law, Jessie McCracken of Limestone; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Willie May McCracken of Williamsburg, Va.; three daughters and sons-in-law; Edna Garst, Jean and Robert Garst of Crossville; Sandy and Terry Self of Greeneville; 23 grandchildren, many great- and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She had many friends and family who she thought fondly of in Washington, Carter and Greene Counties. She was a member of New Hope Church of the Brethren in Jonesborough, where the memorial service will be held on June 5 at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome. She will be sadly missed by all.
