WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hildred Hughes McClain, 15 Jul 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Hildred H. McClain Mrs. Hildred Hughes McClain, 92, Sherwood Dr., Johnson City, formerly of the Pinecrest Community, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Mrs. McClain was a Washington County native and a lifelong resident of Washington and Carter Counties. She was the daughter of the late W.R. Hughes, Sr. and Rachel Smith Hughes. She was a homemaker. Mrs. McClain was a longtime member of the Pinecrest Christian Church and a current member of the Downtown Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, O.L. '"'Fred'"' McClain. Survivors include one son, Joe McClain, Johnson City; two brothers, William H. Hughes and W.R. Hughes, Jr., both of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Joe A. McClain, of Antioch, Ill.; Sandra L. McClain, Johnson City, and Sharon A. Crawford, Jonesborough; several nieces and nephews. Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City, is serving the McClain family. MCCLAIN -- The funeral service for Hildred Hughes McClain, 92, 2012 Sherwood Dr., Johnson City, who died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, will be conducted Thursday, July 17, 2003, at 7:30 p.m. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Dr. Jess Johnson and Dr. Edward Fine, ministers, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held Friday, July 18, 2003, at 10 a.m. in Monte Vista Burial Park. Those planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 7:30 p.m. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
