Rambo C.W. "Dub" Rambo, 78, of Elizabethton, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Nursing Home. A native of Washington County, he had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was a son of the late Will and Martha Cole Rambo. Mr. Rambo was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a 1948 graduate of Unaka High School and worked as a tool and dye maker for 34 years at UNIVAC in Bristol. He was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife, Lillie Belle Colbaugh Rambo, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Pam G. and William Hicks of Elizabethton and Paula Rambo of Gray; a son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Debra Rambo of Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Ann Rambo of Elizabethton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennette and Houston Wilson of Elizabethton and Zella and Ben Stevens of Hampton; special nieces and nephews, including Karen Norris, Tammy Miller, Lester Colbaugh and Gale Colbaugh; and five loving family pets. Funeral services for Mr. Rambo will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jonas Revis and the Rev. Ray Colbaugh officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Gale Colbaugh. Music will be provided by Dale Williams and Dennis Laws. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, in the Blevins Cemetery with the Rev. Talmadge Brown officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, will be Dale Colbaugh, Rick Hardin, Mickey Rambo, Roger Colbaugh, Patton Arnold, Jason Andes, Kenneth Colbaugh and Frank Arnett. Honorary pallbearers include The Unaka High School Class of 1948, members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church, Earl Rock, A.D. "Sonny" Fletcher, Keith Lyons, Donald Roberts, Larry Andes, Norman Garland, Leon Blevins, Lawrence Hodge, Jamie Riddle, Luke Arnold and Ralph Gouge. Also, his special friend to be recognized is Lawrence "Old Timer" Ford. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Rambo to the Blevins Cemetery Fund, c/o Sofia Wilson, 237 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The Rambo family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the VA Medical Center and the Nursing Home for the excellent care and treatment that was given to our father during his illness.
