WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Charles Raymond Ray, 6 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Charles R. Ray Charles Raymond Ray, 78, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home following an extended illness. Mr. Ray was a native of Hampton, but had lived in Johnson City for many years. He was the son of the late Roy Raymond Ray and Callie Elizabeth Ketchem Ray and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paris Ray of Elizabethton and Jack A. Ray of Greensboro, N.C. Mr. Ray was retired, having been a co-owner of Holston Industries. He was a member of the United States Navy Sea Bees during World War II and had re-enlisted in the United States Army Airborne during the Korean War. Survivors include a sister, Catherine Averitt, Cordova, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 9, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel with the Rev. Ron Goss officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 8. Graveside services and interment will follow the services on Friday at the Veterans Affairs Cemetery at Mountain Home. Pallbearers will be Allen Ray, Michael Ray, Ricky Ray, Jeffrey Ray, Ronnie Pearman, Roger Day, Bob Soyars and Millard Day. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.morrisbaker. com.
