Helen M. White 

Helen Marie Elliott White, 79, of Dothan, Ala., died Friday, September 9, 2005, 

at her residence. 

Mrs. White was a native of Johnson City. She grew up in Elizabethton and was 

the daughter of the late Henry Delaney and Bertie Peters Elliott. In addition 

to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marcus L. 

Gordon Sr., in 1945, her second husband, Stewart Eugene White, in 2004, and two 

sons, Marcus L. Gordon Jr. and Stanley G. Gordon. 

Mrs. White was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church in Dothan. 

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Susan G. and Jerry Hodges, Dothan, 

Ala.; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael B. and Ola Gordon, Hartford, Tenn.; 

three granddaughters; five grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and three 

sisters, Margie Estep and Peggy Peters, both of Elizabethton, and Charlotte 

Plummer, High Point, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. White was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, 

September 11, in the Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis 

Free officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to AlaCare Home Health and 

Hospice, 4752 Highway 280 E., Birmingham, AL 35242.
