WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Earl R. South, 19 Sep 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Earl R. South Earl R. South, 70, Earl South Road, Johnson City, died Friday, September 19, 2003, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Mr. South was a native of Washington County and a son of the late John Earl and Dicie Roark South. He was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Vaughn Osborne. Mr. South was a retired self-employed carpenter. He attended Pinecrest Baptist Church and was a member of the Bass Masters Association. Survivors include his wife, Alma Thomason South; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Larry Warren, Knoxville, and Kathy Lee and Houston Greene, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Sharon South, Johnson City; two sisters, Lorraine Whitson, Unicoi, and Linda Dejarnette, Kansas City, Mo.; two half-sisters, Elleen Goodnight, Mooresville, N.C., and Virginia Bailey, Kingsport; three brothers, Bob South, Jonesborough, Charles South, Johnson City, and Jack South, Unicoi; and a half-brother, Bill Osborne, Abingdon, Va. Eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 21, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Street and the Rev. Gary Thacker officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:50 p.m. Sunday, will be Mike Babb, Charles Bailey, Buddy Greene, Houston Greene, Kyle Osborne and Larry Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Banks, Bud Roberts, Hoyt Sprinkle and Lonnie Townsend. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
