Robert H. Sparks Sr.

Robert Howard Sparks Sr., 92, Johnson City, died Wednesday, December 18, 2002, 
at Johnson City Medical Center.  Mr. Sparks was a native of Mitchell County, 
N.C., and had lived most of his life in Carter County and Washington County, 
Tenn. He was a son of the late Chester and Grace Gouge Sparks and was also 
preceded in death by three brothers, George Sparks, Lawrence Sparks and Roy 
Sparks, and two sisters, Daisy Hartsell and Pansy Hall.
Mr. Sparks was a retired supervisor from North American Rayon Corporation. 
He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and a member of Unicoi Masonic 
Lodge #681.
Survivors include his wife, Rilda Freeman Sparks; a son, Robert Howard 
Sparks Jr., of the home; and two daughters, June Gauger, Cocoa Beach, Fla., 
and Sue Gaslin, Titusville, Fla. Three grandchildren, two great-
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

SPARKS -- Funeral services for Robert Howard Sparks Sr., 92, Johnson City, who 
died Wednesday, December 18, 2002, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, 
December 20, at Morris-Baker North Chapel with the Rev. Gary Thacker 
officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 
2 p.m. Friday. Committal services and interment will follow the funeral 
service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to the family
