WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Fay Speer Swadley, 21 Dec 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Fay Speer Swadley, 91, formerly of Johnson City, died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 in Little Creek Sanitarium, Knoxville. She was the daughter of the late Edward Gaines and Daisy Smith Speer. She was a member of Munsey Memorial Methodist Church and was a retired teacher in the Carter County School System. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and did graduate work in education at Columbia University. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Burton Swadley; two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Fay Adams and her husband John Martin Adams Jr., Knoxville; two grandsons and their wives, John Martin Adam III and Jenny Cole Adams, Knoxville, and George Andrew Adams and Lynn Adcock Adams, Memphis. Graveside services for Mrs. Fay Speer Swadley will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Cabel Trent officiating. The family will receive friends at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Elizabethton, from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the graveside service. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Music Fund at Church Street United Methodist Church, 900 Henley St., Knoxville.
