WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Clifford C. Swartz, 5 Dec 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Clifford C. Swartz, 78, of Johnson City, died Friday, December 5, 2003 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Washington County and lifelong Johnson City resident, and a son of the late Gilbert T. and Abbie Sheets Swartz. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Swartz and Louise Swartz France, and one brother, B.J. Swartz. Mr. Swartz was a World War II, U. S. Army veteran. He served in Rome-Arno, Southern France and the Rhineland campaigns. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern service medal. He was a member of Cherokee United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Curtis Swartz; one sister, Virginia Swartz McFarland, of Knoxville, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A very special neighbor, Eric Greene, also survives. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003 from Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Edward Clawson will officiate. Burial will follow the service. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Washington County Unit, First American Center, Suite 595A 208 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, TN 37604, or The Parkinson's Disease Foundation or to the charity of your choice. Friends may call at the at the funeral home any time after noon Monday. Friends and family will meet at the cemetery for graveside services on Tuesday.
