Monnie Cox Thomas 





    Monnie Cox Thomas, 81, formerly of 2701 S. Roan Street #196, Johnson City, 

died Sunday, September 10, 2006, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. 





    Mrs. Thomas was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and a 

daughter of the late Dee and Roxie Cox Hamilton. In addition to her parents, 

she was preceded in death by her stepfather, John Hamilton; three sisters, 

Velma Hamilton, Pauline Chatman and Hazel Hite; and a niece, Linda Sue Reuss. 





    Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. 





    Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Leslie Thomas; a daughter, 

Brenda Thomas of Johnson City; a brother, Vernon Cox; and a niece, Dawn Renee 

Nickels. 





    The funeral service for Mrs. Thomas will be conducted Tuesday, September 

12, at 7 p.m. at Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with the Rev. Reece 

Harris officiating. Music will be provided by Faye Campbell and Greg Greene. 

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 13, at 1 p.m. at Mountain 

Home National Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 

12:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be 

Bill Sluder, Bill Harrison, Marvin McKinney, Mike Sellars, Fred Addison and 

Bob Townsend. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the
