WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Stanley A. Treadway, 12 Aug 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Stanley A. Treadway, 83, NHC Healthcare, Johnson City, formerly of Dave Buck Road, died at the center Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, following an extended illness. A native of Jonesborough, he was the son of the late David C. and Effie Hodge Treadway. He was a 1940 graduate of Jonesborough High School and attended the Johnson City Business College. In his early years, he worked for Mullins Hardware. He retired as an accountant with Mayes Brothers Tool Company, Johnson City. His hobbies were fishing, gardening and listening to classical music. Mr. Treadway was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ethel Bennett Treadway. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton. He did volunteer work with Contact Ministries. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Scott Greer, Jonesborough; a granddaughter, Alyssa Rose Greer; a grandson, Clayton John Greer; two nieces, Vickie Lynn Griffin of North Carolina and Becky West of Johnson City; and several cousins. A Celebration of Life of Stanley A. Treadway will be held at 8 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Owens officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Kenny and Kathy Lethcoe and Jena Collins will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, will be Herman Treadway, Steve Treadway, Harold Smith, Dwight Treadway, the Rev. James Cambron, David Harrison Carroll Montgomery and Terry Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers will be Wade and Sara Paquette, Roy and Sue Haglund, Jim and Ruth Snyder, Tim Williamson, Matt and Kristie Near, George and Ruth Goff, Paul and Maxine Estep, Dennis Blackburn, Ray Lyons, Johnny Griffin, Seth Griffin and Stephen Griffin. Also surviving are his special friends, Duane and Sandy Cregor, Dave Oliver, John Marx, Dennis and Kathy Walters, Tim Harvey, Tom and Mary Beeckman, Bob Wariner, Mike Fisk, Jim and Deb Cartwright, Leland and Linda Calhoun, Tom and Collette Harry and his church family. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the nurses on Station 4, NHC Healthcare. For those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Treadway to Providence Academy, Capital Campaign Fund, 2788 Carroll Creek Road, Johnson City, TN 37615. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
