Ward Jane N. Ward, 75, 1008 Grindstaff Avenue, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Monday, October 2, 2006, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Ward was a native of Washington County and the daughter of the late Ernest and Hazel Rogers Barnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and James Barnes. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and a mother. She was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church. She had a great love for gospel music. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Shelia Ward of Elizabethton; a daughter, Donna Ward of Elizabethton; a daughter and her fiancé, Karen Ingram and Mark Rowlett of Bristol; a grandson and his wife, Brandon and Jennifer Ingram of Watauga; a granddaughter, Whitney Ingram of Bristol; a great-granddaughter, Tuesday "Sunshine" Ingram of Watauga; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Zona Rigsby of Kingsport, Mary and Melvin Tate, Betty Smith and Imogene Crum, all of Johnson City; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Brenda Barnes of Johnson City and Ronnie and Connie Barnes of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Ward will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the residence, 1008 Grindstaff Avenue, Elizabethton, at anytime. The graveside service and interment will be in the Carr Cemetery, Watauga Flats, at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 5. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
