WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Samuel James Worley, 29 Jun 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Samuel J. Worley Samuel James Worley, 75, McKeehan Ridge Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Worley was a native of Washington County and the son of the late Charles and Connie Marie Oliver Worley. Mr. Worley was a member of King Springs Baptist Church. He was formerly employed for 25 years at the Paty Company in Johnson City and retired as a Security Guard at Baxter-Pharmaseal of Johnson City. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in World War II, and was a member of Watauga Masonic Lodge No. 622. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Grindstaff Worley; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Norman Chesser, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Anita Worley, Johnson City; and six grandchildren, Kenneth R. Worley Jr., Phillip R. Worley, Samuel James Worley II, Gabrielle Nicole Burress, Jennifer Turnage and Norman Chesser Jr. Six great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. WORLEY -- Funeral services for Samuel James Worley, 75, McKeehan Ridge Road, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, June 29, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Cornett, the Rev. Palmer Jones and Mr. Scott Hayes officiating. Music will be provided by Bobby Tipton and Bud Taylor. Masonic Honors will be by the Watauga Masonic Lodge No. 622 following the funeral service. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Samuel James Worley II, Phillip Andrew Worley, Kenneth R. Worley Jr., Norman F. Chesser Jr., Nick Turnage, Alan Burress and Steve Bollick. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday.
