Will of William Whitson In the name of God Amen. This day of October in the year of out Lord of 1783 I William Whitson of the County of Washington and the State of North Carolina, Being Sick in body but of Good and Sound Memory Thanks be to Almighty God and Calling to mind the uncertain Estate of this transitional Life and that all flesh must yield to Death when it Shall please God to Call do make Constitute Ordain and Declare this my Last Will and testament In Manner and form following. Revoking and disannuling by these presents all and Every Testament or Testaments Will and Wills heretofore by me made and Declared either by word or writing; and this is to be taken only for my Last will and Testament and note Other. and first I give and Commit my Soul unto Almighty God. and by body to the Earth to be Buried in a plain and Decent manner where it Shall please my Executors hereafter named to Appoint. And now for settling my Temporal Estate and Such goods Chattels and Debts as it hath pleased God far above my Deserth to bestow upon my. I do Order Give and Dispose the Same in Manner and form following, That is to Say, first I will that all my Just Debts which I owe to any person or persons whatsoever to be truly paid within Convenient time after my Decease by my Executors hereafter named. Item. I give and I Bequeath unto my Son Jesse Whitson all my Estate Real and personal, but with this Exception Should my Negroe women hereafter have Children. Item. Thin I give and I Bequeath unto my Daughter Susannah Eagan the first Born of Either of the s'd Negroe womens Children that Shall Live to be two years old. and I also give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Lydda (Lydia) McKay, the second that shall live to the same age. Item. I Do Appoint my Sons Joseph Whitson and Jesse Whitson to be Executors of this my Last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand the Date above written.
