Will of Joseph Whitson In the Name of God Amen: I Joseph Whitson of the County of Washington and Territory Belonging to the United States of America South of the River Vhie?; Being Low and weak of Body but of Sound mind and memory Thanks be to God and Calling to mind the uncertainty of Life and the Certainty of Death do on this first day of November 1790 make & ordain this my Last will and Testament in manner and form following Viz. First, I will that all my Just debts Shall be fully Satisfiyed and paid & the Remainder to be Distributed by my Executors after named as follows: Item: I give and Bequeath unto my Sisters Son Joseph Peyton and to his Heirs the plantation Whereon I now Live with all the _______ thereunto belonging togather with my Negro Boy named John. Item: I give and Bequeath unto my Brother Thos. Whitson and his Heirs my Negroe man Slave named Nedd Item: I give & Bequeath unto my Brother Will: Whitson & heirs my Negroe Woman I have named Hannah Item: I give & Bequeath unto my Brother J'n Whitson & heirs my Negroe woman Slave named Esther Item: I give & Bequeath unto my Brother Jesse Whitson & heirs my Negroe man Slave named Bobb Item: I Desire that my old Negroe man Slave named Dick may be Left under the contsoul (sp.) of my Brother Will: Whitson but not as a Slave but as it were at Liberty Item: I give & Bequeath all the Remainder of my Estate to be qually Divided Between my Four Brothers above mentioned and my three Sisters to witt Sarah Nelson, Susannah Eagan & Lydda McKay And I do Hereby appoint my two Brothers Thos. & Jesse Whitson Executors of this my Last will and Testament.
