Known as Bud to family and friends was married to Mary Jane McGee, daughter of 
Leroy and Martha Clayton McGee. She was born on 17 Mar 1848, died 23 Oct 1936. 
Their children were Martha E.; Sarah Alice; John L.; Rachel; James Monroe; 
William Arthur; and Mary Jane. All were Wayne County, Tennessee natives. 
Bud served as a Musciain in Company A, Second Tennessee Mounted Infantry. He 
enlisted 2 Oct 1863, Nashville, TN and was mustered out 14 Oct 1864, 
Nashville, TN. It was told by his grandson, Alfred Griggs, that Jonathan 
refused to fight, but was "Drafted" through threats that his home would be 
burned. There was a sadness in his eyes that shown through his Civil War Pic.
Bud was my 2 Great Grandfather.
