Stamps, Canicked This Indenture made and entered into this the 15th day of February One Thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven between Joseph W. Roberts and Samuel M. Messenger of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnessed that the said Joseph W. Roberts for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Samuel M. Messenger the receipt whereof the said Joseph W. Roberts doth hereby acknowledge given bargained & granted and sold alien & confirm unto the said Samuel M. Messenger, heirs & assigns forever, all the right title & claim to said tract or parcel of land situated lying & being in the County of White & State of Tennessee on the South side of Falling Water, bounded as follows to wit, Beginning on a white oak standing in the edge of a sink the sourthwest corner a 61 3/4 acre tract running with J. T. Goodwin's line 67 1/2 poles to a stake or stone thence North 60 poles to a stake or stone in Mills line thence west with said line 63 poles to a hickory Mills corner, thence North 5 1/2 degrees west to a stake or stone 66 poles thence west with Rhea line 48 poles to a stake or stone chestnut & black oak pointers thence south 3 poles to a stake and pointers, thence west 4 poles to a small black gum, thence north 3 poles to a stake, thence west 50 poles to a hickory, two black oaks & three frost oaks pointers in Holms line thence south with said line 66 poles to three sassafass bushes & pointers thence East 23 poles to a stake or stone thence south 60 poles to the beginning containing one hundred acreas more or less it being the same lands that I now live on. I do covenant with the same Samuel M. Messenger, his heirs, and assigns that I am lawfully seized of said land and have a good right to convey it. I do convenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and defend the right title against the claim of any person or persons claiming or holding under me and no further, In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above writen assigned, sealed and delivered and acknowledged in the presence.
