JAMES KERR



   James Kerr applied for revolutionary pension while living in White County,

Tenn. He entered the service as a spy under General Joseph McDowell and was sent

to Blackstocks Fort to watch the British. Later he joined Colonel Williams'

forces and was sent to reconnoitre Major Patrick Ferguson's position. As a

result he gained information it is said which led to the defeat of the British

at King's Mountain.
