He was born May 2, 1764 in Carroll Tract, Pa., and had moved before the War to the Tennessee Country, then North Carolina. He entered the army under Col. John Sevier and Maj. Jesse Walton and was in the battle of Boyd's Creek. He enlisted again under Capt. Jacob Brown and' served in the battle of King's Mountain. He enlisted again under Capt. Luke Boyer. He states that his father's family Bible was then in the possession of a daughter who lived in Bledsoe County, Tenn. Thomas Gist testifies that he served at the same time and was under Capt. George Doherty. Note: The printed pension list of White County says that Abel Pearson served in Virginia troops but this is an error. He had a son, Abel Pearson, who was born in North Carolina, now Tennessee, in 1787, and died in Hamilton County, Tenn., in 1856.
