I Asa Crawley of the County of White & State of Tennessee, being weak in body but of healthy and sound mind Do make and ordain this my last will and testament. Item first. Knowing and believing that it is appointed for all men once to die, I recommend my soul to that merciful God who gave it & my body to the earth with a decent and christian burial. Item second. In relation to my pecuniary affairs, it is my wish and direction, that my aged father and mother, should have the full and pre____ enjoyment of all and singular the land with its appurtenances & all the personal property contained in a deed of bargain & sale between my said father Thomas Crawley and myself under date the 17th September 1821, which deed was recorded the October following in the County Court of White and Registered the fifteenth of January ensuing which deed etc. this my last will and testament has special reference to, which aforesaid land property etc. or whatever may be remaining thereof at my death to remain in the possession of & to the sole use and behalf of my said father and mother during their natural lives and when it shall please the almighty disposed of human events to take both of them from this transitory life then whatever of the aforesaid property may be remaining, for each of my brothers and sisters, or thru legal representatives together with my legal representatives to have an equal interest in the aforesaid land property etc. with the exception of my brothers John & Thomas who has already received one horse each supposed to be worth seventy dollars each, which sum of seventy dollars each to be taken into the estimate & from their legacies. Item third. In order to carry the foregoing will & testament into effect I do by these presents ordain constitute and appoint my aged father Thomas Crawley and my dearly beloved wife Hopestill Crawley to be my lawful executor and executrix of this my last will and testament, and I do hope and request them to act accordingly. Ross State of Tennessee White County April Sessions 1825 The due execution of the above last will and testament of Asa Crawley Decd. was this day proven in open Court by the oath of Randolph Ross a subscribing witness thereto for the purposes and things therein mentioned, and ordered to be recorded, and the said Thomas Crawley and Hopestill Crawley was sworn as executor and Executrix, to execute the said last will and testament.
