WHITE COUNTY, TN - WILLS - John Goodwin Will - 11 July 1873 ----¤¤¤---- John Goodwin Last Will and Testament In the name of God, Amen. I, John T. Goodwin of the County of White and State of Tennessee, I being in feeble health but sound in mind, do this day make this my last will and testament. In the first place, I want all of my just debts paid as soon as practicable. I want such property sold to satisfy my debts as Alexander M. Goodwin and Peter E. Goodwin and John W. Goodwin my Executors may think best. In the second place, I want my daughter Eliza Ann Goodwin to have one hundred and twenty five dollars in place of a horse, and twenty dollars in place of a Cow and Calf and five dollars in place of Two Ewes and Lambs. Also one bed and bed stead and all the bed clothes she made for herself and the bed and bed stead and bed clothes that Susan gave her for waiting on her when she was sick, also fifty cents a week from January sixty nine until my death. This is exclusive of an equal share with the rest of my children, Alexander M. Goodwin, Peter E. Goodwin, John W. Goodwin, William Goodwin, Mary Jane Carroll, Caroline E. Anderson, and Thomas F. Goodwin. These children, Ingabo, Alty and Susan*, Thomas F. Goodwin's three children are to draw their father's part. I also want Eliza to have an equal share with the rest of the heirs after she has received the amount I have set apart for her. I also want Mary Jane Carroll to have an equal share with the rest of the heirs provided they pay off the notes I hold on Carroll for land where they now live and if they fail to pay them notes they are to have five dollars out of my estate and no more. I also reserve on half acre of land where my Family Grave Yard is for a family Burying Ground. I also want my Executors to wind up my business without an order from court. I want my property sold to the highest bidder. I also authorize my Executors to make any divide in my home place they may think best and I also authorize them to make titles to my land disposed of July the eleventh AD one thousand eight hundred and seventy three.
