Horseshoe Bend Hardgrave Cemetery, Williamson County, Tennessee Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by Charlie Doggett Legible Inscriptions on the remaining stones: John Hardgrave 1788-1828 Francis Hardgrave Was Born March Sarah Hardgrave Was born Johnson Hardgrave Was born Dec the 14 1802 and died the 22 of April 1825 Columbus Inf. F.H. W.H. H.H. 1816 A.N.S. 1816 S.P. Skelton Hardgrave 1828 In memory of William Campbell who died September 28th 1836, aged 21 years, 11 months and 19 days Though not readable on the stones, I have documentation showing the dates for Francis and Sarah Hardgrave, husband/wife and parents of John. Francis: Born March 5, 1745 -Died August 7, 1828. Sarah: Born 1751- Died November 30, 1832. The Hardgrave stones are grouped together. There are about 5 blank stones plus other unmarked graves in that area. Near the A.N.S. stone are four other unmarked stones, all together in a separate area from the Hardgraves. I have reason to believe that they may belong to the Sawyer family on the early 1800s. There are also some unmarked graves in that area. William Campbell and S.P. are in a third area of the cemetery. I find no sign of other graves in that area yet. DIRECTIONS TO THIS CEMETERY: In the southwest corner of Nashville, Davidson County is a large city park, Warner Parks. From Old Hickory Blvd. in the park go south on Vaughn Rd. until you cross the Little Harpeth River which is the park boundary and the county line between Davidson and Williamson Counties. Within 200 yards on the right is the entrance to a large, upscale housing development, Horseshoe Bend, clearly labeled on the entrance sign. Enter and stay on the main road about a mile to Cedar Knob on left with another name on the right. Turn left on Cedar Knob and go to end of the street, a small circle. If not muddy, you can drive over the curb and keep going up the old wagon road which curves to the top of a hill. About 150 yards from the paved street the road runs into the cemetery on the saddle of a ridge overlooking the Harpeth River. I delight in taking people to see it.
