(* Certain measures appear as "6" in this document but "11" in the related document where Reuben Wells purchases the property from Willis Baucom; I have transcribed the measures as "6" in both documents.) Williamson Co, TN, Deed Book Q, pp 191-192 Littleberry Pate deed for __ acres [# blank] on the headwaters of Flat Creek Executed[?] by Reuben Wells Registered 6th March 1841 This Indenture made and entered into the 26th day of August one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine by and between Reubin Wells of the county of Williamson and State of Tennessee of the one part, and Littleberry Pate of the county of Rutherford and State of foresaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Wells for in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Littleberry his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land, Situate lying and being in the county aforesaid on the head waters of Flat Creek, bounded by Thomas Wilson on the South East and North and Isaac Smith on the West beginning at a hickory marked as a corner to Willis Baucom; thence with the meander of the ridge North 14d, East 12 poles; thence North 30d East 538; thence North 70d East 12 poles, North 62d[*] East 26[*] poles, North 65! d[*] East 60 poles North 78d East 12 poles, North 62d[*] East 52 to a sugar tree the South East corner of said survey; thence North 772 [or 7 1/2?] d West 109 poles to a white oak tree [or the], North East corner of the survey, thence West 189 poles to a sugar tree the North West corner of the survey thence South 61[*] poles to a ___ oak, thence West twenty poles to a stake Isaac Smith's North East corner, thence South 88 1/2 [or 18 1/2?] d East 86[*] poles to a sugar tree, thence South 22d East 84 1/2 poles to the Beginning-- To have and to hold all and singular the rights, profits, emoluments, hereditaments and appurtences of in and to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Pate, his heirs and assigns forever; and the said Pate [should be Wells?] for himself his heirs and assigns doth covenant and agree to and with the said Pate his heirs and assigns, that the before recited[?] and bargain[?] premises containing 193 acres 18 poles be it the same more or less he w! ill warrant and forever defend against the rights, title, claims or in terest of any person or persons claiming the same or any part thereof.
