All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tn/tnfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Mary Betg Marchant mbmjlm22@aol.com June 18, 2007, 1:15 pm Wilson County, Tennessee on Suggs Creek Written: December 9, 1808 Recorded: September 7, 1809 Deed James Sinclair to Hugh Gwynn 83 Acres Suggs Creek This indenture made the ninth day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and eight between James Sinclair of the County of Wilson and State of Tennessee of the one part, and Hugh Gwynn of the County and State of aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said James Sinclair for and in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred and Thirty Two dollars to him in hand paid by the said Hugh Gwynn before the ensealing and delivering of these presents hath granted bargained sold alien enfeoffed & confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Hugh Gwynn his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being on Suggs Creek bounded as follows, beginning at William Rice’s North West corner on a White Oak thence South with said Rice’s line one Hundred and eighty two poles to a stake, thence West eight poles to an Elm thence South forty poles to the center of the creek thence down said creek forty seven poles to an ash thence North twenty six poles to a Honey Locust thence West seventeen and a half poles to a hickory thence North two hundred and twenty four poles to an Ash the North boundary line of the survey thence East fifty eight and a half poles to the beginning, containing by estimation eighty three acres be the same more or less being part “of a tract of a tract” (this is as originally written) of Six hundred and forty acres granted by patent to Stephen Brooks by the State of North Carolina and conveyed by Martin Brooks an agent of the heirs of Stephen Brooks to James Sinclair and Hugh Telford and William Telford and there falling to the said James Sinclair as his part and the said James Sinclair conveys his part to Hugh Gwynn to have and to hold the within bargained premises and to the Hugh Gwynn his heirs and assigns forever and the said James Sinclair his heirs executors and administrators do covenant to and with the said Hugh Gwynn his heirs and assigns to quit claim and forever release all right title and interest and property to and in the within bargained premises to the said Hugh Gwynn his heirs and assigns forever and the said James Sinclair for himself his heirs executors and administrators covenant to and with the said Hugh Gwynn his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the within bargained premises and to the said Hugh Gwynn his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I the said James Sinclair hath hereunto set my hand and seal this day and date first above written.
