Benjamin Coats to Thomas Philips This indenture made this the twenty second day of February ? one thousand eight hundred and twenty five between Benjamin Coats of the county of Henry and State of Tennessee of the one part and Thomas Philips of the County of Wilson and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Benjamin Coats for and in consideration of five hundred and fifty dollars in hand and paid by the said Philips the acceptance when granted bargained and soto confirmed and conveyed unto the said Thomas Philips a certain piece or parcel of land being in the County of Wilson and State aforesaid and on the waters of Cane Creek and Laurel lick Creek and described as follows Beginning at a white oak Ezehiel Boss's north west corner of said 214 acre tract running thence ? east two hundred and fifty six poles to a stake and thence north one hundred and thirty live poles to a cedar thence east sixteen poles to Armstead Stublefield's south west corner an thence north with a line sixty eight and one half pole to an oak thence west seventy six poles ????? west ninety eight poles to Joseph Dipels east boundary line thence south one hundred and thirty five poles to Tippets south east boundary thence west ninety eight poles to Jolin Edwards north east corner thence south twenty poles to the beginning ? by estimation one hundred and ninety acres ???? to and to hold the aforesaid land and bargained premises with all ? waters mines, minerals hereto ? appurtenances hereunto to the on by proper use and benefit of him the said Thomas Philips and heirs and assigns the said Benjamin Coats will warrant and forever defend the aforesaid tract of land from any other persons or persons whatsoever to him the said Thomas Philips his heirs and assigns forever in witness whereof I the said Benjamin Coats have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written signed and delivered in presents of Charles Compton, John Barbee Signed Benjamin Coats (seal) No book letter and the page could be 391, 291 or 91 the first number is unclear ----------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
