This places his birth, which is not given in his pension application, about the year 1759. He lived in Halifax County, Virginia when he enlisted in Captain Triplett's company, Colonel Grayson's regiment. He was in the battle of Monmouth after which he was transferred to Captain Mitchell's company and marched to Charleston, South Carolina. He was at the surrender of Charleston.
