DAVIES John L. Davies applied for revolutionary pension while living in Wilson County, Tennessee, in September, 1832. He was then 68 years of age and therefore born in 1764. He lived in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, in April, 1780, when he enlisted as a substitute for his father who was "infirm," and served six weeks as a private in Captain John Brownfield's compnay, Colonel Robert Erwin's North Carolina regiment in pursuit of Tories. He enlisted July 23, 1780, and served thirty days in Captain John Brownfield's company and was in the battle of Rocky Mount and Hanging Rock. He enlisted again a few weeks later and served two months in Captain Brownfield's company, Col. Lock's North Carolina regiment. He enlisted in 1780 and served four months in Captain Samuel Hart's .company of Cavalry, Colonel Davies' North Carolina regiment. He enlisted February 1, 1781, and served six weeks in Captain John Brownfield's company, Colonel William Folk's North Carolina regiment. In the year 1803 John L. Davies moved from Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, to the "neighborhood of the Big Spring's," in Wilson County, Tennessee.
