He was born in January, 1764, in Dinwiddie County, Va. He enlisted on Easter Monday in 1779 and served seven months in Captain Peter Wright's company of Artillery in the Virginia regiment of Colonels Harrison and Porterfield. He enlisted again in Captain George Pegram's company in the Third Virginia regiment of Colonels Faulkner and Downman and was discharged in November, 1780. He enlisted again and served four months under Colonel Dick and was discharged in October, 1781. In 1807 he moved from Dinwiddie County, Va., to Wilson County, Tenn., where he lived the rest of his life. He married, April 30, 1832, in Wilson County, Margaret S. Gold. She was born in 1805. She died in Wilson County, July 7, 1855. Note:- The marriage in 1832 suggests that Margaret Gold was a second wife as Abram Vaughn was then 68 years of age.
