He was born in Gates County, N. C., in 1762. He died in Wilson County, after 1840. He enlisted while living in North Carolina in 1776 under Captain West Harris and was an orderly sergeant under Captain James Alston and was later a cornet. He served until the close of the War, after which he moved to the section which became Wilson County, Tennessee. He married Ruth Davidson.
