Green Turner was widowed in 1889 by Dr. John Wesley Turner, from Wilson Co. TN. He was the son of Thomas William Turner and Penelope Cartwright, being one of 14 children, though not all of them lived to adulthood. Dr. Turner was educated at Cumberland College and this later became Vanderbilt Medical School; he worked as a physician in Smith County before 1880. Around this time, he met a wagon train headed to Texas. He had a horse breeding farm in Dallas in 1880 and this failed. This is common knowledge in our family...passed down. Then he moved to Shackelford County TX and began a cattle ranch which was productive as he continued his physician's practice. Dr. Turner was a quiet and pensive man, with character. He was much older than his wife Luetta. He also can be found on the census for Dallas in 1880, living next to her parents Additional Comments: Luetta P. Green Turner later married Thomas Boguss Hadley of Grimes TX, who died in 1907; many researchers have mistakenly placed Dr. Turner's death at 1904 in BROWN COUNTY TEXAS, for there is a death certificate there, but this is not the same man. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANY TURNER FAMILIES IN WILSON COUNTY WHO WERE RELATED TO THOMAS WILLIAM TURNER.
