From 1898 until 1955 there was a school across the road from the cemetery. People who attended school there in the 30’s and 40’s could remember funerals and graves in the cemetery. In photographing the cemetery I discovered several mounds without markers. According to an older survey there are many plots marked only with a stone, bricks, or concrete block. Also there are funeral home markers that are no longer readable. Another survey said there were twenty unmarked graves with no indication of a grave. Location: From Palestine turn from Loop 256 onto Farm Market Road 322 South toward Lakeview. Continue past the intersection of Farm Market 294 until Farm Road 322 comes to a stop sign and makes a 90 degree left turn where marker on right will direct to Myrtle Springs Cemetery on a blacktop just a short distance. The cemetery is enclosed in chain link fence and is well cared for. Meetings: On the last Saturday in April the members meet in the covered area to picnic and take care of business. If the weather is too bad for an outside meeting, they meet at a church close to Redtown.
