TX Gladys Stovall Armstrong ImaBR@aol.com MOUND PRAIRIE CEMETERY, Anderson County, TX Submitted By Gladys Stovall Armstrong This cemetery was first recorded in the 1980's by students of a local college; However some graves were missed and I recently recorded some of them, but do not claim this to be a complete list. The earlist marked graves in this cemetery date to the late 1850's; Although settlement of the Mound Prairie community occurred much earlier. Mound Prairie, once the home of a Baptist College known as "Mound Prairie Institute", declined during the latter part of the 19th century. This Cemetery is one of the few physical reminders of the town. Some of the graves are marked with Rock Cairns or hand-hewn stones. MARKER PUT UP BY THE TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION IN 1985 There are many unmarked graves. AIKIN, A.J., 18 Dec 1801 - 20 Aug 1875 Mary, D/O H.A. & M.J.
