Donated to the Anderson County Genealogical Society by Mrs. HUNTER McKAY, III, 3528 Cloverdale Lane, Farmers Branch, TX 75234 (Telephone: 214- 241-1338). Placed in the Carnegie Library. The scrapbook is devoted primarily to newspaper clippings relating to the patriarch, GEORGE N. McKAY, who lived more than 99 years, and his descendants. While special emphasis is placed on the family of HUNTER and LULU McKAY, genealogical data involving the RICHARDSON, NORTHINGTON, AWALT, SMALL, WALLACE, SCOTT, PRICE, LINK, MILLER, DOWLING, MOORE, KOLSTAD, MALLOY and other families are contained in the scrapbook. Clippings were gleaned from the Trinity Advocate, Houston Post, Galveston News, Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, Palestine Press, Christian Journal, New Era, and other Texas and out-of-state papers. The articles were pasted in a "swatch" book used in ordering men's made-to-measure suits. Unfortunately, the year in which some happenings occurred is not shown. (page 24) DEATHS, FUNERAL NOTICES AND OBITUARIES McKAY, GEORGE N., born 23 March 1809, Taylorsville, Kentucky. Married (1) 1832 in Kentucky and (2) in Palestine. Maiden names of wives not found in scrapbook. "FATHER" McKAY and his first wife had twelve children, all born in Owensboro, KY. Three of his sons served in the Confederate Army, while one son served with the Union forces. Sons living at the time of his 95th birthday were: WILLIAM, URIAH, JAMES C., HUNTER and COILE. Mr. McKAY died at the age of 99 years, 4 months, in Palestine. Articles about Mr. McKAY appear on pages 1, 8, 14, 15, 16 and 17 of the scrapbook. BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES McKAY, "AUNT BETSEY," born circa 1784, as calculated by statement made in 1899 (page 1) that GEORGE N. McKAY had returned to Kentucky for the celebration of his mother's birthday "some 15 or more years ago." She lived to be 105 or 106 years of age. "AUNT BETSEY" (maiden name or husband's name not given) had nine children, of whom eight were living at time of her 100th birthday. Children mentioned in scrapbook were GEORGE N.
