Galveston Daily News, 27 April 1886:


Palestine, April 26. ­ Of the three strikers arrested Saturday, as
mentioned in that day’s dispatch, the two Hawleys and Stillwell are yet
in jail, they having failed to give bond. Brown, the third man, gave
bond in the sum of $500 this morning. Three more were arrested Saturday
night and Sunday. Tom Sinclair, indicted in two cases, gave bond in the
sum of $500. S. H. Simpson, arrested in Tyler and brought here yesterday
by Deputy John Kelley, and Mingo Spears, colored, are yet in jail,
having failed to make bond. Other arrests will doubtless follow.
 A fine rain fell in the county Saturday. It was needed, but it is clear
and warm now, and farmers report the crops booming.
